“Find joy in others laughing. Spontaneous giggling is like a holiday from the mundane”

LLaughter. I am sure you have heard that it is the best medicine. Research is coming to the forefront to support this statement. According to this article on helpguide.org laughter has the following list of benefits:

• Boosts immunity
• Lowers stress hormones
• Decreases pain
• Relaxes your muscles
• Prevents heart disease
• Adds joy and zest to life
• Eases anxiety and fear
• Relieves stress
• Improves mood
• Enhances resilience
• Strengthens relationships
• Attracts others to us
• Enhances teamwork
• Helps defuse conflict
• Promotes group bonding

Obviously, I have just stated the obvious. We know laughter makes us happy. Makes us forget about our problems and makes us feel better. It does not take Sherlock Holmes to figure this out.
Like yawning and sighing – laughter is infectious. So just by giggling you can lighten the mood of those around you. Why do you think we are so attracted to people who frequently laugh?
So, here’s ten cheers to laughter. It is indeed something that will improve our daily well-being on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Try to incorporate some into your daily life.

10 Things that make us laugh10-things-that-make-us-laug

1. Humor movies….

Leave a comment and let me know which is your favorite and why?
Personally, I love the Leon Shuster movies. They have a unique brand of South African humor. I don’t know if everyone would get it… but there’s just something about the Shukster.

2. Funny TV shows

From certain reality shows to sitcoms, the list is endless.

3. Your favorite humor blog

Like this one or this one. Perhaps you could leave a recommendation in the comments section.

4. Giggling children

As I mentioned this stuff is infectious

5. Playful pets

6. You

Yes you are an endless source of laughter. Don’t you think your embarrassing moments are worthy of a laugh?

7. Playing games with friends or family.

Anyone up for a round of 30 Seconds?

8. Karaoke

Better yet watching the kids do karaoke. Does anyone want to hear “Let it go” one more time?

9. Funny literature and comic strips such as…

  • A book of jokes
  • The jokes section of your newspaper or magazine
  • Comic book strips for adults …. Here we get Rose Rigden’s “Wildside” collection. (Even available in calendar) Honestly, I love Rose Rigden’s artwork.

10. Stand-up comedy….

Okay, I know it is not all funny but there are some good comedians out there.

So what is it that makes you laugh?
