Word of encouragement for 2022 – let the river run!

“What will the new year bring us?”
“365 opportunities.”

These are the word on a meme I saw circulating on Social Media today. It made me ponder: what will 2022 bring us?

I don’t want to pull a parlour trick over your eyes. However, I can promise you that the next year will come with a heap of challenges, good days, bad days and all the other ones in-between. May you wake each morning and embrace the day as a new opportunity.

While many prophesy that 2022 will be the year of the doubles, I’d rather tell you: let the river run! I wish you a year where you’d allow the Holy Spirit to flow freely into every area of your life. No longer pool up, let it get stale and shelve all that He is speaking. May every drought filled area of your heart be thriving with life.

Jesus paid the ransom to set free those held captive.

“For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba!“Abba” means “father!” in Aramaic”

(Romans 8: 15 LEB)

When you mourn, your heart aching and trembling, may the Holy Spirit confirm you are a child of God. May this give you the courage to keep on moving. No longer should you dwell in lonely exile, but realize that wherever you may go or stay, you can always speak to this saviour who longs for a heart-to-heart.

May 2022 be the year, in which the dreamers wake the nations. May the fierce gaze of Jesus be upon you. May you grab His sword, which is the living word of God and may it sever all ungodly labels from your life. Yes, in simple terms: read the bible.

Break the dam wall! Let the water gush forth a new path, which gives you more than one option. Allow the wild, rushing river to make way for a God that is, with us. When you come to the end of your capabilities, run onto the living water. All ye sons and daughters of the living King, come out of the fog! Wake up and realize that you are not alive to be part of some dead religion.

May Jesus scoop shining butterflies out of every stale bit of water left in your heart. Dance in childlike wonder! Chase the little butterflies, which are the areas of personal growth.

Each of us has a choice to make. In 2022 and beyond, choose to let the river run.

This song may have formed part of my inspiration for this post.
