10 Reasons to Give Thanks

When worries pile up and you feel you’re stuck in a never-ending mess, it’s always a good idea to remember the many good things in your life. Practicing gratitude daily teaches your mind to view things from a fresh perspective. When you find God as the source of your many lists of thankful, your Gratitude becomes an expression of worship.

This week seems a good time to compile a 10 Things of being thankful list. And in no particular order, completely from the top of my head:

I’m thankful for time spent in the swimming pool with my kids. It’s scorching hot weather in my part of the globe. We had many giggles and lots of fun.

I’m thankful for new connections and friends I’ve recently made. It is honestly a great blessing to have a weekly bible study group to attend.

With the above in mind, I’m thankful we are currently permitted to attend bible study meetings. With the Covid-19 imposed restrictions, you could hardly have family over for dinner – never mind attend a bible study group. I’ve never really felt the need for any regular social interactions until Covid-19. What a sudden change this virus brought with it. This year has been a rollercoaster. You never know what to expect next. Even more important to have a group of people you can ask to pray with you.

Prayer. It is a privilege we so often neglect. Just think about it. Jesus became human and then gave up his life, died a brutal death – all so I can have conversation and relationship with God. I am so thankful for the sacrifice that Jesus did at Calvary. There is just no amount of words that can express my Gratitude.

I am thankful for running tap water, hot water, electricity, working internet, and functioning air-conditioning. Food on my table, fuel in my car, a comfortable bed, the clothes on my back, the shoes on my feet. Ice cream. Seriously, ice-cream. Whoever invented ice-cream was a genius.

So many things to say thank you for.
Thank you to you for hopping through my list of things to be thankful for. I know I’ve already listed more than 10, but the last one on my list is this song by Bradon Lake.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Thank you so much for joining us this week at TToT! It really does help your perspective to write down things you are thankful for, and it can be as simple as being thankful for ice cream! I, too, keep thinking of things I wish I could do that I never did anyway, but the fact that I CAN’T do them even if I wanted to can sometimes drive me crazy! We sure have saved a lot of money on eating out these past 8 months, though.
I hope you will be back next week with us!

  2. Thanks for linking up with the Ten Things of Thankful this week! Even though 2020 has been quite the year, there are so many things to be thankful for, and your list is a great reminder of some of them.

  3. I enjoyed reading your Ten Things of Thankful.
Although I didn’t mention water in my post of thankfuls, I remember one night this past week thinking about how thankful I was for water and its many uses.
With all the necessity of social distancing and mask wearing and the need to limit contacts, especially for those whose health would have higher risk factors if exposed to COVID-19, except for getting essentials, we have pretty much lived like hermits during the pandemic, except thanks to Zoom meetings, texting, face time, etc we have kept in touch with friends and family. For that I am thankful. I am thankful one’s religious experiences are not limited to attending church one day a week but can be a part of one’s life every day as one embraces the teachings in the scriptures in actions and in thoughts.
